Allen ends mechanical woes with Enid Speedway win

By John Rittenoure - ENID, Okla. (May 14, 2022) - Mechanical problems have plagued Dustin Allen on the Complete Well Testing Sooner Late Model Series tour this season. In four shows Allen only had one top 10 finish.

But that may all be in the past now. After a break through victory two weeks ago in a non-point show at Enid Speedway Allen backed it up with a Sooner Series victory at Enid on Saturday to become the fifth different winner of the season.

Series points leader Hayden Ross drove off the pole to lead the opening lap of the 20-lap feature, shortened to 20 laps due to the threat of rain, however fourth starting Allen quickly moved into second and roared around Ross for the lead on lap 2.

Allen and Ross continued to pace the field until a lap 15 yellow. After the restart Eddie Martin powered around Ross for second. Martin could not catch Allen but logged his best finish of the season. Ross settled for third, Brett Hansen charged from 12th to fourth and Zach Nickell rounded out the top five.

JD Choate picked up his second factory stock victory of the season Saturday winning over Brad Savoie and previous winner Dustin Choate.

Kort Morgan made his first visit to Enid Speedway and raced to victory in the sport mod feature. The Muskogee driver won over Daylon Bergeron and points leader Alex Wiens.

David Wagner earned his first hot shot victory of the season. Kyle Howard finished second.
