Winter Nationals will close out 2018 season
Race format, payout announced
By John Rittenoure - ENID, Oklahoma (October 10, 2018) - The 2018 Enid Speedway racing season will come to a close October 20-21 with the running of the Winter Nationals.
Sooner Late Models, Modifieds, Sport Mods, and Pure Stocks will be racing in the season finale with extra money up for grabs. Late models will run for $1,500-to-win and $300-to-start, Modifieds $850-to-win, Sport Mods $750-to-win and Pure Stocks $750-to-win. Full payouts are listed below.
On Saturday (Oct. 20) drivers will draw for heat race starting positions. Passing points will be awarded in the heats. Drivers will earn points for their finishing position plus additional points for the number of positions a driver advances from his or her original starting position. Heat race lineups will then be inverted for a set of qualifying races where passing points will again be awarded. The points earned in the heats and qualifiers will be added together to determine Sunday's (Oct. 21) feature lineups.
Feature races will be run Saturday lined up by passing points earned. Highest point driver will start on the pole unless a redraw is done. If a B feature is needed passing points will determine the starting order with a set number of finishers (determined by total car count) advancing to the rear of the A feature.
Race time Saturday is 4 p.m. and Sunday at 2.
