Sellers, Traugott, Kenny, Bohnstedt win features on Sunday

 

by John Rittenoure, ENID, Okla, (October 22, 2017) - After rain and wet conditions forced cancellations on October 7 and again on October 21, racing finally resumed at Enid Speedway on Sunday, Oct. 22.

 

A total of 111 drivers signed in to race in four classes headlined by the Oil Capital Racing Series sprint cars. 

 

Two-time champion Robert Sellers of Mustang led the way in the OCRS feature leading all 20 laps to pocket $1,500 plus lap money for his victory over a 24-car field. Jake Martens of Fairview ran a strong second followed by Sheldon Barksdale of Norman, Mickey Walker from Sapulpa and 2017 points champion Zach Chappell of Talala rounding out the top five. 

 

Cole Traugott won his second Sooner Modified feature of the season over a tough field of competitors. Traugott was chased early on by Travis Johnson before falling out after a lap 16 yellow flag. Enid racer Greg Burt took over the chase the remaining distance but settled for second. Previous winner Brandon Gemmill ran third followed by Tanner Mullens Jon Herring, Jr. 

 

Crashes and spins plagued the pure stock feature forcing several yellow flags causing officials to shorten the 20-lap event. Tommy Bohnstedt came away with the victory over Calvin Nemer and Kellen Downing. 

 

Brandon Kenny came from a inside third row starting position to top the Sooner Sport Mod feature over Joe Adams and Mark Harrison.
