Enid Speedway set to open on Saturday
By John Rittenoure - ENID, Okla. (June 1, 2020) - What seems like an eternity has finally come to an end as the 2020 racing season is about to get underway with the Twister Nationals at Enid Speedway on Saturday.
The season was scheduled to start on March 28 until the COVID-19 pandemic reared its ugly head and brought the nation to its knees. Racing was not allowed at the fairgrounds during, but with the month of June arriving the all clear has been given, with social distancing in mind, and racing can now resume.
It will also be a relief to the Sooner Late Model Series which will headline Saturday’s show after spending the past weekend racing in Texas.
The late models will replace the Sprint Series of Oklahoma that was originally scheduled for the opener until a schedule conflict arose.
Saturday’s program will consist of Sooner Late Models racing in their third point show of the season, Modifieds, Sport Modifieds, Pure Stocks and the new Hot Shot division.
Racing will begin at 7 p.m. with grandstands opening at 5.
