Racing format for Winter Nationals

By John Rittenoure - ENID, Okla. (September 28, 2020) - The annual Enid Speedway Winter Nationals (Oct. 2-3) gets underway on Friday with six classes in competition over a two-day period.

Friday night winged 2-barrel champ sprint and 305 sprints will headline the program with a complete show of heats and feature events. The sprints will run Friday night only and a strong field of area competitors is showing interest in racing on the high-banked 3/8's mile Garfield County fairgrounds oval.

Joining the sprints are A-Modifieds, Sport Mods, Pure Stocks, and Hot Shots. The Hot Shots will also run a complete program of heats and features while the A- Modifieds, Sport Mods, and Pure Stocks will run heats and qualifying races. Passing points will be awarded in the heats and qualifiers and then added together to determine Saturday feature lineups. Adding qualifiers to the show will level the playing field somewhat by allowing competitors two chances to earn points and lock in their feature positions. The qualifier lineups will be inverted from the heat race lineups.

Saturday the Sooner Late Models join the action with what is their final points show of the season. The late models will run a complete show of heat races and feature events. The A-Modifieds, Sport Mods, and Pure Stocks will run feature events based on their qualifying results on Friday. The Hot Shots will run a complete show.

Gates open at 5 p.m. each night with racing getting underway at 7:30.
